A lot in this blog has been said about USSD as a preferred channel for mobile money. Especially when you consider Global USSD — technology which delivers USSD to any network, in any country. Today you will see some statistics which has been compiled by GSM Association’s Group for Mobile Money for the Unbanked thanks to Gates Foundation support to promote mobile money. I personally think great future awaits mobile money. Mobile Money will fuel rapidly developing economies of Africa and Asia and will prove that technology can truly have a profound effect when all the pieces fit together:

1) Large population (Nigeria is larger than Russia in terms of the number of people)
2) Cell phone being the only reliable and available technology
3) Need for a system to facilitate transactions beyond cash: credit, savings, transfers.
