Today we have millions of different types of mobile services: financial services, location-based services, informational and content services, etc. As a result of this variety different aggregation projects appear. The problem is that today they focused on specific sectors of services, e.g. mobile payments sector or aggregation of mobile advertising. These aggregation projects also cover only particular countries. So, the logical next step here is creation of a platform that allows aggregation of services from different sectors and gives global coverage on top of that.
This unity of different services creates synergy effect which is beneficial both for service providers and users. Functionality of one sector adds something for another. For example, any types of mobile services can include advertisements. Or mobile payments can be used in any other type of services. From the point of view of users – they receive universal interface and as a result – simplicity and convenience. Another issue that needs to be addressed is that mobile network operators look to increase ARPU by offering mobile services that are mostly Internet-based. They somehow ignore tested non-voice technologies like USSD that don’t require huge investments and infrastructure upgrades. However, USSD is considered as one of the most promising technologies in mobile world today, especially in developing countries where mobile financial services are on the rise.
